Green Lantern and Alpha Flight

I loved the first couple of years of the original Alpha Flight series.  John Byrne was at the top of his game and I was already a fan of the characters from their appearances in X-Men and Marvel Two-In-One.  Then there was the shake up on the team at the end of their first twelve issues which was completely unexpected.  Attempts to revive the team have never quite captured the same magic for me.

Hmmmm! The power ring of the Golden Age GL was only powerless against wood. So, that giant pink cobra (which is originally from the MTU Annual featuring the Collector, if memory serves) would basically have to be a giant marionette of some kind!
Mystically animated, perhaps, by Blackbriar Thorne, the evil Druid.

I lost all interest in Alpha Flight when Puck was revealed to be a normal-sized man cursed to be in a dwarf body. Why the need to add pointless angst rather than letting the character be cool as he was is beyond me.

One of those cases of a writer doing something which should've gotten his "artistic" license revoked. Immediately and permanently!
