The Hulk and Elfquest

Even though it preceded a very cool moment, I was a little confused at Bruce Banner's "I'm always angry" comment at the end of The Avengers.  Does he now have the ability to switch to the Hulk at will if that's the case? Does he no longer have to be in a state of extreme emotion?  Hopefully this will be expanded upon in the upcoming sequel, where The Hulk is said to have a larger role.

This is unusual! :)

I took Banner's comment as meaning there's always a lot to be angry about. As cool as it is to see Bruce Banner - or David Banner - we all want to see The Hulk smash.

I know it's on short notice but I hope you got something special planned for tomorrow(January 26). It's Australia's Independence Day. Let's see Marvel's Dreamwalk(offbeat abilities) & DC's Tasmainian Devil(big strong hero) battle Shimmer(offbeat abilities) & Mammoth(big strong villain). Maybe Marvel's Boomerang & DC's Captain Boomerang vs. Marvel's Talisman & DC's Wandjina or Marvel's Gateway & DC's Ultraa(Jack Grey).Try to do some research on the various foreign characters & adapt them for your blog. Please serve some international team-ups to your over Americanized site. It could only help your viewership. Maybe you could even give us an Australian week of crossovers, etc. Also try contacting some Australian newspapers & tv stations about this holiday or even week long event & self promote your blog in that manner. There is nothing wrong about being your own publicity machine & it couldn't hurt but only help. I'm an American who has only been to Canada but I'm sure you could find new fans by targeting various countries this year. Some future possibilities are New Zealand(Feb. 6),Iran(Feb. 11),Wales(March 1),Ireland(March 17) & Greece(March 25).As the old saying goes "If you build it they will come". Hope you double or triple your fan base in the coming year.

C.C. has an interesting point there. Maybe for Tanabata (July 7) you could feature Sunspot and Doctor Light II. :)

@ C.C. I would think Marvel's original Talisman (from the CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS mini-series) would be more fitting.

So, Cutter's elves live on the world of Kai? Interesting!

That's the one I was talking about since he is the one from AUSTRALIA! SHEESH!!! It doesn't matter anyway since we got yet another all American cover again anyway(Mulder,Buffy,Ripley, etc.) Racial minorities make up nearly 40% of America but according to this blog & the general comic book market most people would never guess that. They are lucky if they can crack 10% of the population used on this blog or in comic books. I was hoping February would be African-American/black month to make up for their dismal showings in the past but i'm not too optimistic about that either. With 1,026 covers to date & at the very least 2,052 people brought together on them, they look like the Republican Party has taken over the blog(straight, white,American, Christian males with few disabities). If more characters were over 50 it would be the perfect conservative demographic.I can only think of the solo Northstar cover for any openly BGLT charcters in over 1,000 team ups using at least 2,000-2,500 characters!I think both Bats &Thing could both be given a break in regards to their solo team-up covers. Maybe put them off until Dec.The 12 days of Bats & the Thing has a nice ring to it. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

CC... this is a silly fun comic blog, not a statement on equality. I'm from America and the blog is my tribute to the characters and artists that I loved growing up and I must rely on the available images that are out there - no need to look for any deeper meaning. There will be plenty of characters of all races and nationality that show up but I don't feel the need to fit any sort of quota in doing so. Batman and The Thing are my two favorite characters which is why they show up often. Let's keep politics far away from here, there are plenty of places on the web to argue about that kind of thing. The theme of STF: The Lost Issues is F-U-N!

I didn't mean for it to be taken personal or to sound political(quotas weren't mentioned at all) but I wrote a comment on your "DR. SPECTRUM JOINS THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS" about having more double women covers, more racial minorities covers, etc. & maybe have some double villainess covers. In the 600+ covers done in the nearly 2 years that have since been produced, there really haven't been any double villainess covers made(Catwoman/Black Cat seemed like 2 heroines teaming up) or much else in the way of the many characters named. I was under the impression that the "silly fun blog" took requests(& the criticism that sometimes go along with them) & that you were trying to make some money or at least break even with this site(as I see you have 5 cent ads for sale & people can donate using credit cards at the bottom). I was just saying that it would be a welcome change of pace to see some characters that have sat on the sidelines for the past 5 years or so take the field. Like for example a black woman that isn't Storm or Vixen. Still no Onyx,Nubia,Dr. Midnight,Misty Knight, etc. I've noticed several images over the years have definitely come from inside a comic instead of the cover(ex.=Cheetah2 on the WW2/Cat cover)so that excuse that their images are rare doesn't hold water to me. You could try to use them at least some point in some capacity. Still no lesbian characters like the red haired Batwoman(you've used everyone else in the Bat-Family but her(& Bette Kane).Still no Pied Piper,Extrano,Kevin Keller,Shvaughn Erin, etc. I"m an atheist who has seen the annual Christmas covers you've done each year(& I've never complained or have any thing negative to say about them either) but it would be nice to see 2 atheists team up like Maggie Greene(white woman) with Beta Ray Bill(alien),Mr. Terrific 2(black guy) or Starman 1(JSA) & talk about the lack of religion instead of always having Christianity on display year after year(I don't mean on Xmas day but maybe the day after=lol). Just try to remember it's always more fun to see various groups that people might identify with on your actual covers than wondering if they might be represented in the perceived story inside your books. Also your site is & always has been political when you have members of the Nazi Party, Communist Party,Dr. Doom(lol)etc. featured on various covers. You can't escape it!

Batwoman will be making a few appearances. Don't hold your breath for Extrano. Just because an image exists in a comic somewhere doesn't mean I have access to it. I get my images just like most people - Google searches! So some characters are tough because there are so few usable images to choose from. Others are tough because I don't know much about them. So a character that I personally followed with plenty of images to choose from will appear more often than a character that I don't know so well with limited appearances. It's as simple as that.

@At CC: You can complain all you want about a lack of diversity in comics (I have since 1979 when Marvel axed virtually every title starring a black or female solo character), but this blog is hardly as saturated with "straight, white, American, Christian males with few disabilities" as you're depicting it unless, as you did with the two-villainess example, you simply decide that the exceptions don't count for unelaborated reasons. Did you not know that the Thing is Jewish? He was the main character between the B&B format and the current STF format. And if Superman isn't the model Dreamer Act illegal alien, nobody is. You're also skimming over the fact that many of these characters aren't human at all, let alone specifically white. Is Thor a Christian? Is the Watcher? Is Darth Vader? Is Wonder Woman? Do these characters, like Storm and Vixen, not count because, paradoxically, they are used too often? What I don't understand is how the characters to whom this blog (and the larger comics-reading public) keep returning are considered in your arguments to be LESS representative of the blog for that very reason.

Whenever there is a discussion of popular culture there are certion phrases that set off red flags and klaxon alarms with me: "it does/doesn't seem..."; "most people do/don't think of it that way..."; "well, that's just the example everyone points to...", etc. So when I saw the phrase "I can only think of the solo Northstar cover for any openly BGLT characters..." I had to ask myself, "Do I know Heat Miser's sexuality? And should I?" How about Mogo? He's in here four times, according to the tags. How would we know if Danny The Street was on the cover or not? If Machine Man and Jocasta were an item at one time, was that a homosexual relationship? After all, they're both A.I. and don't have human genitalia, so organic notions of sex aren't applicable to them. Since they were each attracted to someone like themselves, how is that not homosexual? Frankly, even if we were willing to consider former humans (Man-Bat, Man-thing, Deadman, etc.) as white men, we're still looking at a great deal of variety in here.
